Frequently asked questions

What does technical website management cover?

Security updates and core maintenance, monitoring and uptime, backups with a tested restore procedure, performance tracking, and keeping an eye on code quality and the deployment process. In practice it also means someone picks up the phone when something breaks, so the team isn't left searching for a developer at that moment.

How often does a Drupal website need updating?

Security releases should be applied within a few days, and Drupal publishes them on fixed dates so they're plannable. Core minor releases come roughly every six months and are worth keeping up with, because falling several versions behind turns a routine update into a project.

Can you work within our existing team and codebase?

Yes, that's the most requested arrangement. I step into the existing Git flow, follow the conventions already in place, and take part in code review rather than setting up a parallel way of working. Getting up to speed quickly in an unfamiliar codebase comes with the job.

What happens when our Drupal version reaches end of life?

The site keeps running but stops receiving security updates, so every vulnerability found after that stays open. For government and enterprise, that's usually a compliance problem too. Drupal 10 reaches end of life on 9 December 2026.

Do you also work as a subcontractor for agencies?

Yes. A significant part of the work is senior capacity for digital agencies that need Drupal depth on a project without hiring for it. That can be a bounded assignment, a technical lead role on a single project, or a standing arrangement for escalations.
